Direct payments are cash payments made in place of social care services, giving you greater flexibility, choice and control over your life and allow you to make your own decisions about how care is delivered.

Personal Assistance Scheme

Cash payments

People who are not eligible to receive a Direct Payment or who do not wish to receive a Direct Payment may choose the Personal Assistance Scheme. The aim of the Personal Assistance Scheme is to enable disabled people to recruit and manage their own staff in a way which meets their personal requirements.
